WhatsApp store vs Shopify
Shopify is a full online shop with a card checkout. A Crocadilo WhatsApp store is simpler: customers pick what they want, and the order lands in your WhatsApp for you to confirm. Which is right depends on how you sell.
We checked Shopify's UK pricing page on 1 October 2026. Link at the bottom.
| Shopify Basic | Crocadilo WhatsApp store | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | £25 a month, or £19 a month paid yearly | £10 a month on Basic, with 5 digital cards included |
| Trial | 3 days free, then £1 a month for 3 months | 30 days free |
| Fees on each sale | 2% + 25p on online card payments. Another 2% if you use a different payment provider | 0%. We never take a cut |
| How customers pay | Card checkout on your site | However you already take payment: on collection, bank transfer or a payment link |
| How you get orders | Shopify admin and email | A ready-written message in your WhatsApp |
| Stock and shipping | Full stock control, shipping rates and labels | Simple: no stock tracking or shipping labels. Good for menus and small product lists |
| Setup | Theme, payments, shipping, domain | Add products and your WhatsApp number |
Pick Shopify if
You post orders across the country, need card payment before anything ships, have lots of stock to track, or want a till system that matches your online shop. Shopify does all of that well, and it's worth paying for.
Pick a WhatsApp store if
Your customers already message you to order. Think a bakery taking cake orders, a takeaway, a florist, or a salon selling products. You want a tidy menu with prices, orders that arrive in one place, and no fees on top. You can always move to Shopify later if you outgrow it.
